Justification Guide for Assessors
iView Learning is the recommended solution to provide learners with an Assistive Technologies support tool, designed to work alongside and complement their one-to-one training. The portal shows the learner how each of the key features of the Assistive Technology can be used.
This is communicated via a catalogue of how-to-videos, plain text instructions, and interactive tutorials that benefit the learner if they require further instruction or a recap following their one-to-one training sessions.
iView Learning does not replace AT support; it reinforces it. The learner can work with an Assistive Technology trainer using iView Learning as a collaborative tool during sessions. This allows for better focus on person-centred strategies rather than just button-pushing, ensuring the training time is used as effectively as possible.
For learners with conditions impairing memory, planning, or executive function (like SpLDs, ADHD, or Brain Injury), retaining processes between sessions can be difficult. iView serves as an external memory aid, helping learners transfer skills from one context to another without needing constant re-training.
For learners who experience anxiety in social situations or feel embarrassed asking for clarification repeatedly, iView provides a safe space. They can revisit small, manageable chunks of training privately, reducing the pressure during live sessions and ensuring they don't miss out on key learning due to anxiety.
Access to the catalogue is available 24/7 on any device. This flexibility allows learners to overcome barriers at times when human support is unavailable (evenings, weekends), whether they are studying at university, working from home, or in the office.

"The learner requires iView Learning alongside the Assistive Technology training sessions so that they can practice using the software in their own time. The video content breaks down the training into small, manageable chunks and will support the learner by using language that is simple and straightforward along with visual cues. iView Learning will allow the learner to revisit aspects of their training without needing to ask their trainer, which is particularly beneficial if they experience anxiety in social situations or hesitate to ask for clarification. It serves as a vital 'memory aid' for platform independent learning."
