Quick Reference Guide

Mastering voice commands is key to unlocking the full potential of Dragon Professional. While dictation is faster than typing, knowing how to edit and format with your voice ensures you remain hands-free and efficient. Use this guide to memorise the most high-impact commands.

TIPSQuick Advice

Speak clearly and at a normal pace - do not shout or whisper.
Position your microphone about an inch from the corner of your mouth.
Think about what you want to say before you speak to minimize "ums" and "ahs".

Dictation & Punctuation

New Paragraph: Starts a new paragraph.
New Line: Moves cursor to the next line.
Cap that: Capitalizes the last spoken text (e.g., "hello" → "Hello").
All caps that: UPPERCASES the last text.
Full stop / Period: Inserts a "."
Comma: Inserts a ","
Open Quote / Close Quote: "..."

Correction & Editing

Scratch that: Deletes the last thing you said.
Select [word]: Highlights the specified word for editing.
Correct [word]: Opens the correction menu for a specific word.
Delete that: Removes the selected text.
Resume with [word]: Deletes back to a specific word and lets you continue speaking.

Navigation & Control

Go to end of line: Moves cursor to the end.
Go to top of document: Jumps to the start.
Insert before [word]: Places cursor before a specific word.
Microphone off: Puts Dragon to sleep (say "Wake up" to resume).
